Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar foi um astrofísico indiano nascido em 1910.
Chandrasekhar se formou em física pela Presidency College, Madras e posteriormente, realizou sua Pós-graduação na Universidade de Cambridge.
Assim como seu tio (Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman), Chandrasekhar também ganhou o Prêmio Nobel da Física devido suas descobertas sobre os estágios evolutivos posteriores de estrelas massivas em 1983.
Além disso, ele foi premiado com a Medalha de Ouro da Royal Astronomical Society (1953), a Royal Medal da Royal Society (1962) e a Medalha Copley da Royal Society (1984).

Chandrasekhar majored in physics at Presidency College, Madras and subsequently completed his graduate studies at Cambridge University.
Like his uncle (Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman), Chandrasekhar also won the Nobel Prize in Physics for his discoveries about the later evolutionary stages of massive stars in 1983.
