Chandigarh foi uma das primeiras cidades planejadas da Índia, sendo projetada pelo arquiteto Le Corbusier. A cidade é marcada por uma arquitetura urbana e moderna.
Fundada em 1947, Chandigarh é capital dos estados de Punjab e Haryana. O nome da cidade significa “fortaleza da deusa Chandi”, derivando do Chandi Mandir (Templo na cidade de Mani Majra).
Em seu projeto, Le Corbusier, fez uma analogia ao corpo humano. O Complexo do Capitólio (cabeça), o centro da cidade (coração), o vale do lazer, espaços abertos setores e verdes (pulmões), as instituições culturais e educacionais (intelecto), a rede de estradas (sistema circulatório) e a área industrial (vísceras).
Na foto 1, temos o Complexo do Capitólio, declarado em 2016 pela UNESCO como Patrimônio Mundial.

Founded in 1947, Chandigarh is the capital of the states of Punjab and Haryana. The name of the city means “fortress of the goddess Chandi”, derived from the Chandi Mandir (Temple in the city of Mani Majra).
