No ano de 2019, em parceria com Colégio Estadual Chico Anysio, Argilando, CIEP, Instituto Shanti, UFRJ, foi desenvolvido com sucesso o projeto “Gandhi Global Solar Yatra”.
Mahatma Gandhi, uma das grandes almas que esse mundo já conheceu, acreditava que podemos ser a mudança que queremos ver no mundo. Sendo assim, o projeto adota esse espírito, da não-violência ao meio ambiente e de que todos nós podemos fazer a diferença, passando então, essa linda mensagem para crianças e jovens de 7 a 16 anos no Rio de Janeiro.
O projeto surgiu na Índia, a partir de uma iniciativa do Instituto de Tecnologia de Mumbai (IIT-Bombay) que desenvolveu os componentes de lâmpadas solares para serem montadas por crianças, jovens e adultos, visando conscientizá-los sobre o seu uso de energia.
No Brasil, o projeto educativo visa ensinar às crianças das escolas públicas do Rio de Janeiro, o processo de montagem de lâmpadas solares. No ano passado, na primeira etapa do projeto, o professor Solanki (IIT-Bombay) se reuniu com os parceiros, escolas participantes e alunos para uma palestra sobre a relação entre Gandhi e o meio ambiente, além de explicar o princípio da lâmpada solar e a importância das crianças no processo de salvar o planeta. Na segunda etapa, alunos e instrutores formados pelo curso fornecido pelo IIT Mumbai realizam a montagem das lâmpadas. Por fim, na terceira etapa do projeto, A Associação Amigos da Índia, a ONG carioca Argilando, o Colégio Estadual Chico Anysio (através do apoio da SEAS – Secretaria do Estado do Ambiente e Sustentabilidade), CIEP, Instituto Shanti, UFRJ, organizaram oficinas para a montagem das lâmpadas com as crianças, onde aprenderam também, sobre energia sustentável e sua importância para o mundo.
Para encerrar esse projeto, as crianças receberam uma palestra sobre não-violência e energia sustentável no Museu do Amanhã, onde realizaram o acender das lâmpadas como uma forma simbólica e um marco do dia em que se tornaram Embaixadores Solares.

In 2019, in a partnership with Colégio Estadual Chico Anysio, Argilando, CIEP, Instituto Shanti, UFRJ, the project “Gandhi Global Solar Yatra” was successfully developed.
Mahatma Gandhi, one of the great souls that this world has known, believed that we can be the change we want to see in the world. Therefore, the project adopts this spirit, of non-violence to the nature and that we can all make a difference, passing this beautiful message to children and young people from 7 to 16 years old in Rio de Janeiro.
The project emerged in India, from an initiative by the Mumbai Institute of Technology (IIT-Bombay) that developed the components of solar lamps to be built by children, young people and adults, aiming to make them aware of their energy use.
In Brazil, the educational project aims to teach children in public schools in Rio de Janeiro, the process of building solar lamps. Last year, in the first stage of the project, Professor Solanki (IIT-Bombay) met with partners, participating schools and students for a lecture about the relationship between Gandhi and the nature, then, he explained the principle of the solar lamp and the importance of children in the process of saving the planet. In the second stage, students and instructors trained in the course provided by IIT Mumbai built the lamps. Finally, in the third stage of the project, the Friends Of India Association, the ONG Argilando, the Colégio Estadual Chico Anysio (with the support of SEAS – State Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainability), CIEP, Instituto Shanti, UFRJ, organized workshops to build the lamps with the children, where they also learned about sustainable energy and its importance to the world.
To finish this project, the children received a lecture about non-violence and sustainable energy at the Museu do Amanhã , where they held the lighting of lamps as a symbolic form and a landmark of the day when they became Solar Ambassadors.
